Gabriel Strefezza broke the deadlock in the ninth minute to give the hosts an early advantage. The lead was doubled before the break when J. Pohjanpalo netted on 33 minutes, sending the sides in at half-time with Palermo 2-0 ahead.
L. Insigne added a third for Palermo on 63 minutes. A. Palumbo then struck in the fourth minute of added time to round off the scoring, with the match finishing 3-1.
The result means Palermo sit first in the Serie B table after three matches played, with three wins from three, nine points and a goals record of seven scored and three conceded. They are in the top two of the 20-team division and eight points clear of Sampdoria.
Sampdoria, meanwhile, find themselves in 18th place with just one point from their opening three games — a draw alongside two defeats — and a goals record of three scored and six conceded. They sit in the bottom third of the table as the early weeks of the season continue.
